Suicide attempt at Black Mountain Elementary School

A suicide attempt is reported at Black Mountain Elementary School in Golden Valley. Kingman Unified School District Superintendent Gretchen Dorner said she learned about 11:30 a.m. that a 14-year-old student suffered self harm in one of the school’s restrooms. Dorner said other students and staff provided care until law enforcement and medical professionals arrived. She said the 7th grade student was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center and then flown to a Las Vegas hospital for treatment. Bomb scare hoaxes under investigation

Another bomb scare hoax occurred at the Mohave County courthouse in downtown Kingman. Suspicious objects left by one or more pranksters were found outside the historic structure twice this week. The courthouse was evacuated for more than two hours Monday morning after an item rigged with wires for an explosive device appearance was discovered behind the building. Courthouse operations resumed when authorities determined the device was harmless. Kingman Police Department and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit personnel responded at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday when another suspicious device was located.
