Bat netting workshops come to Verde River July 26, Sept. 6

Bats get a bad rap, but the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) aims to change that by highlighting the good they do – such as eating pesky mosquitoes and flies – during a series of bat netting and monitoring workshops July 26 and Sept. 6. Young bald eagle released back into the wild celebrates freedom

After a graceful half-mile flight across Horseshoe Lake, the 3-year-old bald eagle released back into the wild by Arizona Game and Fish Department and Liberty Wildlife was free once again.  It was a fitting conclusion for the bird that was found in February at a Queen Creek dairy suffering from a shattered femur. Local residents earn degree from WGU

The following local residents have earned a degree from Western Governors University (WGU). The online, nonprofit university held its 70th (Orlando, Florida); 71st (Cincinnati, Ohio); and 72nd (Anaheim, California) commencement ceremonies this year to celebrate the graduation of more than 22,000 students from across the country.
