‘Team Golden’ donates school supplies for tenth year

BULLHEAD CITY – Desert Valley School principal Sandra Brown and students from each grade level accepted more than 9,300 school supplies donated by Aquarius, Colorado Belle and Edgewater Resorts and Casino employees, valued at almost $5,000. It is the tenth year the Aquarius has adopted schools in Bullhead City, Laughlin and Golden Valley.  With the acquisition of the Colorado Belle and Edgewater by Golden Entertainment, all three of its Laughlin properties participated for the first time. Gillenwater to assume Public Defender position following Stavris’ quick exit

Newly hired Mohave County Public Defender Chris Stavris resigned Tuesday, Aug. 20, after roughly one week on the job. His decision is the product of two health emergencies within his family. Stavris shut down his law practice in Scottsdale where he left his family behind to transition to Kingman in the near future. He secured a home in Kingman and was to report to work to start his new job on August 12. BCC awards Casino Drive SID design contract

LAUGHLIN – Clark County Commissioners on August 20 unanimously approved about $2 million for design of street, water, and sewer through a special improvement district for West Casino Drive in Laughlin. “The large-diameter water and sewer pipes finally will complete the missing link of the utilities in southern Laughlin,” said Martin Knauss, president of the Laughlin Economic Development Corporation which has supported the effort. “This will open up lots of commercial land for development along a stretch of Casino Drive that is twice as long as the famed Laughlin Strip Corridor.
