MOHAVE COUNTY – Officials at Flagstaff’s Nestlé Purina Pet Care Company made a donation of pet-food products to a local no-kill domestic animal rescue and sanctuary in Mohave County. Eleven pallets totaling more than 10,000 pounds of dog and adult cat and kitten food, in addition to pet treats, were provided last Wednesday to For the Luv Of Paws, located in Golden Valley between Kingman and Bullhead City, Ariz. LAKE HAVASU – The body of a boating accident victim was recovered from Lake Havasu Friday night, August 23. The search began Wednesday when 17-year-old Adam Gomez went missing. Mohave County Sheriff Doug Schuster said the Redondo Beach, California resident jumped into the water from a boat. He said the operator of the boat was circling back to pick him up when the vessel and its propeller struck the teen who then slipped under the water. Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said divers located Gomez’ body in about 23 feet of water just south of Thompson Bay at about 6:15…

KINGMAN – A project to replace water lines on Third Street, from the Beale St. Alley to Pine St. starts next week, and should last two months, barring any weather delays. The first closure is scheduled to start Monday, August 26, from Beale St. through the intersection of Oak St., and should last 14 days. Detours will be in place for street closures. The contractor, Freiday Construction, is working with residents in the area regarding notification, but no water service delays or disruptions are scheduled to take place.
