GOLDEN VALLEY – Golden Valley Fire District (GVFD) firefighters have responded to 1,681 incidents since January 1, 2019. GVFD is responsible for about 180 square miles of the valley, however, does respond out of district when needed and also has out-of-district contracts with Griffith Energy, Unisource Black Mountain Energy and Kingman Energy Corporation, to provide them with fire suppression and emergency medical service (EMS). BULLHEAD CITY – Homeless does not mean forgotten. Mohave Electric Cooperative is providing financial support for an eight-bed veterans’ wing of the Bullhead City Emergency Shelter facility on North Oatman Road. U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar, a member of the Rural Veterans Caucus, visited the building on Monday. Dear Editor, Thank you to Wells Fargo for their generous donation of $437.60 to the Dig It Kingman Community Garden. Wells Fargo’s employees did a fundraiser with all their branches throughout the state. Chocolate dipped strawberries, survivor bracelets and survivor keychains were sold to collect money for Dig It. BULLHEAD CITY – Mohave County School Superintendent Mike File has opted not to fill a vacant seat on the Colorado River Union High School District governing board. The seat will remain open until after the November 2020 election, when a new term begins in January 2021. The CRUHSD board deadlocked in late October when four applicants expressed interest in the seat. Two were tied two-two after being placed in nomination. File has contacted both candidates, Dr. Patrick Beck and Carey Fearing, and advised them of his decision.
