MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County Supervisors voted unanimously (5-0) at their latest meeting on Feb .3, to approve its chairman signing a letter to Thomas Buschatzke, the Director of the Arizona Department of Water Resources to undertake actions to designate the Hualapai Valley Groundwater Basin (less the Southern Greggs Subarea) an Irrigation Non-Expansion Area (INA).  Mohave County officials are very active in protecting their water rights and strongly contend that the expansion of large scale agricultural usage is rapidly depleting the aquifer and the potential remains for further expansion in the future. City accepting applications for Citizens Academy

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman is launching its first Spring Citizens Academy, where city residents can take part in a seven-week program to learn more about city services. Constable speaks at Rotary

Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s featured speaker January 31 was Mohave County Constable of the Kingman Precinct (and club member), Michael Cobb (shown with club president Karen Brown). Cobb gave a power point presentation on the duties of a constable. Arizona has 74 constables which are elected every four years. Primary responsibilities of constables are to enforce civil/criminal court orders arising out of justice court actions. Fire district facing cutbacks after $40,000 theft

YUCCA – It’s former Chief apologized Friday for embezzling at least $40,000 from the Yucca Fire District. Matthew Young, 40, appeared for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to theft. “I stand before you today your Honor a humble man with a lot of remorse and guilt in his heart,” Young told Judge Doug Camacho. MOHAVE COUNTY – More than 75 classic and custom vehicles, and hundreds of spectators from around the tri-state area converged on the K9 Car and Bike Show this month.
