Fairgrounds operations begin transition

KINGMAN – Public Works Director Steve Latoski will detail the transition plan for bringing the Mohave County Fairgrounds operations in-house during the next Board of Supervisors meeting. Latoski will outline the sequence of tasks that will occur as the County ends its lease arrangement with the Fair Association at the end of the year. County Manager Sam Elters is proposing use of up to $100,000 for a consultant to study the Fairgrounds. Recommendations will include where the facilities should be located in the future. Overall, total spending by all visitors to Arizona’s state park is estimated to be $332 million, including spending in and within 50 miles of parks. Airport land sale approved

KINGMAN – A significant Airport Industrial Park land sale was approved without discussion at Tuesday’s Kingman City council meeting. The matter was rubber stamped along with a number of other items on the consent agenda. A Colorado-based development company submitted the only bid for the 30-acre parcel at the business park, home mostly to manufacturing activity and more than 2,000 jobs. The Council accepted the Kiernan West LLC offer of the required minimum price of $1,975,000. KINGMAN – Kingman Healthcare Incorporated (KHI) has announced the election of Krystal Burge as Chairman of the KHI Board. Burge became involved with Kingman Regional Medical Center when she joined the KRMC Foundation Board in 1997. For over twenty years, she has worked with fellow Board members on many projects to benefit Kingman and the larger Mohave County community. Notably, Burge’s leadership was instrumental in raising funds for the development of the Joan and Diana Hospice Home, which provides end-of-life care to terminally ill patients. MOHAVE COUNTY – Supervisor Travis Lingenfelter believes Mohave County is wasting resources on COVID-19 reporting. Lingenfelter questioned the policy during Monday’s Board meeting as Department of Public Health Director Denise Burley provided another coronavirus update as she’s done many times during the 18-month pandemic.
