BULLHEAD CITY – Current and future welding students on the Mohave Community College Bullhead campus now get to enjoy their new building. Friday a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to show the new 2,000 square-foot multipurpose space which provides instructional and lab space. Students now have access to 12 welding booths and other outside workspaces in the adjoining yard. MCC Governing Board President, Julie Bare, welcomed everyone in attendance and introduced Bullhead welding faculty and those who worked to make the new building a reality. MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County has allocated less than half of the $6.5 million that the federal government provided in March to provide rental and utility assistance to citizens and businesses struggling during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The county has until the end of Sept. next year to complete the process. The county has partnered with the Department of Economic Security to administer the program. “To date, 1,129 applications have been submitted,” Mohave County Manager Sam Elters said during the Sept. 7 Board of Supervisors meeting. “$2.31 million has been disbursed.” The fund balance stands a $3.8 million. MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County officials have been steadfast in refuting allegations that its employees have engaged in excessive, if not illegal, enforcement of COVID-19 rules, regulations, and restrictions, but there’s a concession that staff made dozens of errors in another arena.
