Thunder-Rode raises funds to benefit Cornerstone Mission Project

KINGMAN — Motorcyclists from Northern Arizona gathered at Thunder-Rode Motorcycle Accessories on July 22, 2023 for a Christmas in July charity ride benefiting Cornerstone Mission Project, Inc.  Enduring blistering heat, the heart of our local motorcycle community could be felt as locals watched riders blaze through downtown Kingman, winding up the Hualapai Mountains, and circling back to Thunder-Rode in the name of charity.  Throughout the month, Thunder-Rode collected donations from the Cornerstone Mission Project’s online “Needs List”. Animal shelter receives $345,000 donation

MOHAVE COUNTY – A donation of $345,000 from the estate of the late Joanne E. Barton for the new Mohave County Animal Shelter was formally accepted during Monday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. The shelter is under construction on county property north of the Kingman District Library on Burbank St. Susan Pena, Barton’s friend of 30 years, has served as the administrator of the estate of the woman who retired after more than 20 years as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College, WAVE CTED and several local high school districts are partnering on a new project to help more students get on pathways to great careers, with a focus on students who may not realize the importance of post-secondary education and skills training.   Under the partnership agreement, MCC and Western Arizona Vocational Education Career Technical Education District will provide Career Coaches/Counselors to work with high school students in the Colorado River Union High School District, Kingman Unified School District, and Lake Havasu Unified School District.     Students who are not thinking about a career skills training path will find the assistance…

Over 1.6 million fewer students are enrolled in higher education in the U.S. compared to before the pandemic. Decreases in university enrollments have likewise occurred around the world. Japan has shut down 11 and merged 29 universities from 2000 to 2020.
