MOHAVE COUNTY  A major development proposed in north Mohave County has the initial blessing of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Unanimous votes during Wednesday’s meeting have the Commission recommending Board of Supervisors approval of a major general plan amendment and a number of zoning requests for a master planned community along U.S. 93. “Entrata” would feature a cargo airport component in a mix of development that would include homes, schools, parks and businesses. LAKE HAVASU CITY – A ceremony to recognize volunteer public safety service was held at the Oct 10 Lake Havasu City Council meeting. Sgt. Lorne Jackson and Ofcr. Josh Banuelos both received awards for their bravery during a confrontation with an opponent.  Police department volunteers were also recognized for their unselfish time and dedication in protecting our community. GVID future: Six apply for appointment

KINGMAN – Six citizens have applied for possible appointment should the Board of Supervisors vote next Monday to transition the Golden Valley Improvement District from a county governed entity to domestic administration. Those who’ve applied for initial appointment to a domestic board whose members would be elected in the future include Brittany Bean, Jennifer Esposito, Danielle Ohle-Keck, Butch Meriweather, Stephen Tygard and Dennis German. KINGMAN – Four incumbents and at least nine other citizens have picked up nominating packets at Kingman City Hall to attempt to qualify candidacy and pursue campaigns for office in the 2024 election cycle. Vice Mayor Cherish Sammeli was the last current office holder to indicate prospective candidacy in the municipal races.
