Project will ensure commerce can continue through corridor  PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation is set to begin work on replacing Virgin River Bridge No. 1 along Interstate 15 with a brand new bridge that will increase safety and help the corridor to continue carrying commerce for decades to come. MOHAVE COUNTY – There’s a new development as much of western Arizona opposes recommended transfer of 4th priority Colorado River water to the Phoenix area. The Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) has roughly doubled the amount of water it is recommends to be transferred to quench development thirst in the town of Queen Creek. After an extensive public hearing and review process, ADWR Director Tom Buschatzke last Sept. decided to support the transfer of 1,078 acre-feet per year from farmland in the Cibola area, south of Lake Havasu City. KINGMAN – Conservative Republican Club of Kingman will have its February meeting on Monday, February 8 at 11:15 a.m. at the BPO Elks Club at 900 Gates Avenue (across from the golf course).  Guest speakers will be Mohave County District 1’s newest Supervisor Travis Lingenfelter, and Mohave County Elections Director Allen Tempert.  Lingenfelter will be speaking about the budget, future plans, and coping with the pandemic. MOHAVE COUNTY – In partnership with the Kingman Fire Department, the Bullhead City Fire Department is honored to host the Leadership Development Academy, which is currently in session. The specialized training classes began the week of January 20 -21 and continued through Jan. 29. A total of 30 participants from eight surrounding departments are in attendance, including members from Bullhead Fire and the Kingman Fire Department.
