Voter registration for the Primary Election closes on July 1, 2024, at midnight. MOHAVE COUNTY – A legal appeal of the designation of a groundwater basin north of Kingman as an Irrigation Non-Expansion Area (INA) is heading toward the finish line in Maricopa County Superior Court. Tucson-based appellant attorney Adriane Hofmeyr’s Reply Brief was filed with the Court on June 21.
KINGMAN – On the eve of the 2nd anniversary of the controversial Supreme Court’s “Dobbs decision” overturning Roe v. Wade, the Mohave County Democrats had a recent gathering to finish collecting signatures and having notaries notarize the Arizona for Abortion Access initiative petitions that circulators have been collecting signatures from Mohave County voters since October of last year. The afternoon also included a showing of the movie “Call Jane.”
MOHAVE COUNTY – Arizona Electric Power Cooperative (AEPCO/MEC) has requested that their applications for an amendment to the Mohave County General Plan be postponed. The issue involves the company’s application going from a Suburban Residential Area land use designation to an Urban Development Area land use designation and a Rezone from an A-R (Agricultural Residential) zone to an M-X (Heavy Manufacturing) zone for a portion of Assessor’s Parcel No. 225-09-052.
