Bushey gets jail, community service, and probation for thefts

Brianna Bushey

Sticky fingers at work bring a felony conviction and jail time for a Bullhead City woman. Brianna Bushey, 30, pleaded guilty to theft of $5,924 worth of lottery tickets from the Desert Foothills Blvd. convenience store where she worked.

Defense attorney Kenneth Beane said the four days Bushey spent in jail following her arrest served as a wake up call.

“It scared me completely,” Bushey said during her May 29 sentencing hearing in Kingman. “I will never do it again.”

The repetitive nature of stealing so many lottery tickets over a 17 day period last November compelled Mohave County Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert to order a 30 day jail sentence. Bushey is credited for the days already spent in custody but she’ll have to report to jail by June 29 to serve 26 more days.

Judge Lambert placed Bushey on supervised probation for three years and directed her to perform 200 hours of community work service. She is also responsible for restitution totaling $6,424, which includes reimbursement for the $500 forensic audit conducted at the convenience store.
