Bullhead City Council selects Rodney Head to serve as Mayor

BULLHEAD CITY — Ceremonial activity marked the start of the July 15 Bullhead City Council meeting. Newly appointed council member Pamela Smith was issued her oath of office and seated on Council.

The council then selected member Rodney Head to serve as Mayor.

Head retired in 2014 after serving as Bullhead City police chief for more than 13 years, the end of a 30-year law enforcement career. He was appointed to a vacant city council seat in 2022.

Vice Mayor Dan Alfonzo signaled strong support for Head’s elevation to the Mayor’s chair.

“I think you’re a fantastic candidate,” Alfonzo said. “You’re an excellent individual for this slot and I think that you will do an excellent job.”

The council vacancy and need for a new mayor occurred when former mayor Steve D’Amico stepped down on June 5 to direct the Bullhead City Metropolitan Planning Organization.

D’Amico was recognized with thanks, praise, a plaque and various items commemorating his more than ten years of service as council member and Mayor.

“Serving this community as mayor was an immense privilege, one I cherish deeply,” D’Amico. “Thank you for your trust, your support and this thoughtful acknowledgment…I have utmost confidence in our council and our Mayor Rodney Head to move the city forward in the best way possible. Thank you everybody.”
