Barr booked for aggravated assault

Amanda Barr

A Kingman woman who allegedly threatened neighbors with a broken glass jar and a knife was taken into custody after scuffling with deputies late Sunday morning. Mohave County Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said deputies responded at 11:20 a.m. to the disturbance in the 3100 block of Northfield Avenue.

Mortensen said the reporting party indicated that a woman later identified as Amanda Lynnette Barr threatened to kill multiple neighbors with a knife.

“Deputies observed Barr, known to them from prior incidents, sitting on the porch of a nearby residence and Barr immediately began shouting obscenities at deputies,” Mortensen said. “Barr appeared to have a broken glass jar in one hand and a knife sticking out of her waistband.”

Barr reportedly tried to flee on foot after she was directed to drop the glass jar. A short foot pursuit ensued before Barr was taken down.

“Once on the ground, deputies struggled to gain control of Barr, who attempted several times to slash at the deputy in the face with the broken glass jar,” Mortensen said. She said Barr was placed in restraints but that she continued to be combative with deputies and medical personnel.

Barr was booked into the Adult Detention Center in Kingman on a mix of aggravated assault charges and a criminal damage count for allegedly breaking a neighbor’s window.
