Liberty Quartet to perform Jan. 26

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Everyone’s spirits will be uplifted at the Liberty Quartet’s concert this week. Formed in 1995, Liberty Quartet was founded by a local church in Boise, Idaho. It started out with choir director Royce Mitchell and three other choir members. By 1997, the quartet had a full time traveling tour. Today, the band continues to spread their faith and worship to audiences through music.  Each year, the band’s touring performances take place at prisons, churches, and nursing homes.  Eventually, Liberty Quartet broadened their concerts to Gospel Music Fan Festival in Canada, the Southwest Music Festival, and the Great Western Fan Festival. Lake…

Proposed natural asset companies rule withdrawn by Biden Administration

Following strong opposition, it was revealed last week that the Biden administration has suddenly withdrawn a proposal that would have opened public lands to private ownership.  At the Mohave County Board of Supervisor’s first board meeting in January, the County Supervisors were prominent voices against a proposed rule by the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) that would have authorized the listing of “Natural Asset Companies” (NACs) as a novel investment vehicle on the New York Stock Exchange.  Supervisor Buster Johnson brought the item forward for the Board’s consideration after digging deeper into what this proposed rule meant.  “I’m delighted to learn that the…

UniSource Electric Rates rising

New electric rates for UniSource Energy Services customers will take effect Feb. 1 to help cover rising costs and support ongoing investments in safe, reliable service. The average monthly bills of typical residential customers on UniSource’s Basic pricing plan are expected to increase by $13.68 under the new rates, approved Jan. 17 by the Arizona Corporation Commission. Bill impacts will vary with usage and are likely to be higher during hot weather, when customers typically use more energy, and lower in cooler months.
