2.5 years ordered for fentanyl transport into Mohave County

KINGMAN, Ariz. – A Lake Havasu City man is going to the Arizona Department of Corrections for his involvement in bringing fentanyl to Mohave County from southern California. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle rejected pleas for probation and ordered a 2.5-year prison term for Zachary Davis during a July 22 sentencing hearing in Kingman.

Davis, 34, is convicted of a charge reduced to attempted transportation of narcotic drugs for sale through a plea agreement.

Deputy County Attorney James Schoppmann said Davis, his girlfriend Savannah Ketchersid, 34, and Zachary Stuart, 32, Huntington Beach, California, brought 55 grams of fentanyl to Arizona for distribution and profit.

“I made the mistake,” Davis told Judge Carlisle. “I’m trying to be accountable for it the best I can.

Defense counsel informed the court that a bed had been secured for Davis to stay at a sober living facility in Lake Havasu City where he can be treated for substance abuse.

Judge Carlisle instead determined that prison is appropriate due to the significant amount of drugs involved and because he said fentanyl is so dangerous, destructive and deadly.

Ketchersid was previously placed on probation for her lesser involvement in the case. Stuart’s case was dismissed on July 7.
