Mohave Community College will receive more than $1.9M as part of the federal government’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding.  Although the college is only required to distribute half of the money directly to students, the college will give all of it to MCC students. “We feel that distributing this money evenly among as many eligible MCC students as possible will have the most powerful positive impact on them and our communities during this crisis,” said MCC President Dr. Stacy Klippenstein. The college has already distributed $500 and $750 payments to students who met eligibility guidelines set by the federal…

Fire claims mobile home

KINGMAN – More than two dozen firefighters battled windy conditions Monday when fire engulfed a Kingman mobile home. Kingman firefighters responded at 5:25 p.m. to the fire in the area of N. Fourth Street and Windsor Avenue. Assistant Fire Chief Keith Eaton said first arriving fire personnel found a fully involved, vacant mobile home. He said crews mounted an aggressive attack because wind caused the fire to spread to other structures on the property. “KFD Command struck a second alarm activating the Mohave County Mutual Aid pact. Units from Golden Valley, Pinion Pines and NACFD #1 responded to the scene,”…
