COVID-19 update: 65 new cases, one death

MOHAVE COUNTY – Late Tuesday afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of 65 new confirmed COVID-19 cases. There is also one death, a 70-79 person in the Bullhead City service area, a previously reported case. Thirty-four of the cases are in the Lake Havasu City service area. There are 28 cases in the Bullhead City area. The Kingman service area has a total of 3 new confirmed cases. Missing 81-year-old found safe

KINGMAN – A Kingman missing persons case ended in a positive outcome. Investigation began when it was learned that Maria Emerson, 81, didn’t return to her Kingman residence in the 2600 block of Louise Ave., which she left on foot sometime Saturday, July 18. Concern was heightened because Emerson left her medications at home. Early investigation determined that she was seen exiting a public transportation bus near Walmart about 3:40 Saturday afternoon. Registration underway for free BHC preschool

BULLHEAD CITY – Registration has started for preschool at three campuses in the Bullhead City Elementary School District.  Families must meet certain income eligibility criteria for free preschool, which covers most openings at Coyote Canyon School.   A limited number of scholarships are also available at Diamondback and Sunrise Schools, both of which have self-pay options.  There are a limited number of self-pay spots at Coyote Canyon. Shooting death in BHC under investigation

BULLHEAD CITY – A shooting death is under investigation in Bullhead City. The incident was reported at 5:00 p.m. in the 600 block of Mead Lane. Police department spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said an argument between two men escalated into a shooting. The name of the 45-year old man who was killed is withheld, as well as the name of the suspected shooter. Fromelt said additional details will be provided Wednesday. The investigation continues.
