Leander charged in sex crime

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A young Lake Havasu City man is accused of plying a teenager with alcohol and raping her in a shed last Nov. Police report the Jan. 6 arrest of 20-year-old Michael Leander for sexual assault and sexual conduct with a minor. An investigation began after the victim disclosed to her father that she had been raped. She subsequently told police she became drunk while playing the “buzzed” drinking game and that Leander took advantage of her. MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County Supervisors voted Tuesday to overturn new board meeting rules imposed when Buster Johnson began serving as chairman on Jan. 4. Dist. 2 Sup. Hildy Angius led the charge in returning the Call to the Public toward the start of board meetings. Johnson relegated Call to the Public to the end of the meetings. GOLDEN VALLEY – Human remains have been located in a remote area in Golden Valley. An investigation has been initiated by the Mohave County Sheriff’s office. Spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said a citizen reported finding the remains Sunday while walking dogs in the area of N. Dewey Road and W. Agua Fria Drive. No further details were provided.
