Leander charged in sex crime

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A young Lake Havasu City man is accused of plying a teenager with alcohol and raping her in a shed last Nov. Police report the Jan. 6 arrest of 20-year-old Michael Leander for sexual assault and sexual conduct with a minor.

An investigation began after the victim disclosed to her father that she had been raped. She subsequently told police she became drunk while playing the “buzzed” drinking game and that Leander took advantage of her.

A police report indicated that Leander admitted having sex with the 16-year-old girl, knowing she was underage and intoxicated.
