Time

It is the most common noun used in the English language. And yet, arguably, time may be the most misunderstood word known to humanity. We might define the term as a sequence of events that are irreversible, but that sounds so unromantic. And time is romantic. Time is a commodity as well; but, again, that doesn’t satisfy except to say that there is an ever-increasing scarcity of it for those who live within its dimension. So, time is precious. But time is both a taker and a giver. We exchange past moments for current and current ones for the future….

Catholic Charities feeding those in need

BULLHEAD CITY – Catholic Charities Community Services, BHHS Legacy Foundation, and Food for Families recently partnered to distribute 600 Thanksgiving meal baskets for families in need in Bullhead City. The baskets provided families with a complete Thanksgiving dinner, including turkey, gravy, canned corn, green beans, cranberries, potatoes, stuffing, rolls and pie.  On Monday, November 13 from 9 a.m. to noon, staff and volunteers assembled the baskets, with families receiving the baskets on Nov. 16.   For those facing food insecurity, a Thanksgiving Day meal was also served at the BHHS Legacy Foundation Christine Stamper Center for Help & Hope, operated by…

Festival of Lights kicks off holiday season

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The London Bridge Resort got everyone in the holiday spirit as they lit up Lake Havasu for the 24th Annual Festival of Lights. Festivities began with an annual swim race across the Bridgewater Channel. The race was open to all ages who could compete at flipping the switch for the Festival of Lights.  Third place swimmer won $50 and second place won $100. First place got $250 and was won by 19-year-old Joshua Brandenburg.   One of Santa’s reindeer announced Brandenburg’s win on the London Bridge stage where he flipped the switch and lit up the town, transforming…

Bench dedicated at MCC

Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club and Mohave Community College’s Kingman campus held  joint events November 17. The college’s Pond was reopened and a bench by the pond was dedicated to the late Dan Messersmith. Messersmith was a previous Dean at the college and a long-time member of the Rotary club, as well as having served as Rotary District Governor.
