BLM lifts fire restrictions for Colorado River District

MOHAVE COUNTY – Effective Friday, Sept. 27, at 6 a.m., the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will lift all fire restrictions on public lands administered by the Colorado River District, which includes Lake Havasu, Kingman and Yuma Field Offices. Due to widespread precipitation causing a rise in fuel moisture, it has been determined that the likelihood of wildfire has lessened to the degree that the restrictions can be rescinded. KINGMAN – Jealousy and relationship insecurity fueled violence between Lake Havasu City girlfriends earlier this year. Case details were spelled out by Judge Billy Sipe Wednesday, Sept. 25, as he imposed a 4.75-year prison sentence for Nancy Canchola, 39. Judge Sipe said Canchola suspected her 29-year-old girlfriend had been cheating on her when she returned after 3:00 a.m. on Valentine’s Day to their home in the 1200 block of Anacapa Drive. Parents charged in child abuse, drug case

KINGMAN – A five-year old girl and an older sibling have been removed from a Kingman home that has been condemned and declared uninhabitable. Kingman police said the girl opened the door while her mother hid in another room when police arrived Tuesday to assist a Department of Child Safety investigation at a home in the 700 block of Ridgecrest Drive. Michael Anthony Gurney, 39, and his wife Donna Ann Gurney, 43, were initially arrested on charges associated with previously issued warrants.
