BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Fire Department and Mohave County Environmental Quality are hosting a Free Residential Household Hazardous Waste event on Saturday, November 2, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will take place at the Motor Vehicle Division located at 1325 Alonas Way, Bullhead City. All residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to remove unwanted hazardous items from your home, as this event is only offered twice yearly. Drainage study meeting open to the public

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman will host a Kingman Area Drainage Master Study (KADMS) public meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, 310 N. Fourth St. This meeting will provide an overview of the KADMS, identify citizen drainage issues, and provide information on the current city drainage conditions. Dear Editor: In his letter to the editor ”Vote ‘no’ on school bond issue” (The Standard Oct 23, 2019) Larry Kersich makes a good argument for voting against the school bond. I would like to expand upon his letter by questioning a tax (this Bond IS a tax) that “Provides additional classroom space by renovating and reopening Palo Christi as a permanent home for our preschool and teacher training/development center.” Keyword: Preschool. BCFD crews battled wind during structure fire

BULLHEAD CITY – On Sunday, October 27, at about 2:55 p.m., several Bullhead City Fire Department (BHCFD) crews were dispatched to the 1700 block of Dorado Dr. for the report of a structure fire. The first arriving units reported heavy smoke and winds blowing, forcing the blaze to a near-by secondary exposure  Acting Battalion Chief Marvin McCabe requested additional units to respond through dispatch. The firefighters quickly began attacking the blaze utilizing the deck gun.
