KINGMAN – The Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center (KHAC) monthly movie night is Friday, Dec. 6 beginning at 6 p.m. The month’s featured movie is Libeled Lady from 1936, starring Jean Harlow, William Powell, and Myrna Loy. Steve Conn will provide historical and behind-the-scenes commentary before the movie starts. Popcorn, snacks, and beverages will be available. There is a $2 suggested donation. Students participate in America Recycling Contest

Dear Editor, On Thursday, November 21, City of Kingman Mayor Jen Miles and the Kingman Clean City Commission Chairperson Clarence C. Russell awarded certificates and prizes to the winning students of the 2019 American Recycles Day Poster and Poem/Essay Contest at the Kingman Council Chamber. The Kingman Clean City Commission thanks the nine local schools and clubs participating from 29 teachers, with 672 entries for judging from pre-schoolers to sixth graders. Kingman Library expansion has begun with groundbreaking ceremony

KINGMAN – The Mohave County Library – Kingman is being renovated and expanded to continue to provide access to knowledge, entertainment and other opportunities for area residents. More than 50 people attended a Monday morning, Nov. 25, groundbreaking for the $4.3-million project at the library located at 3269 North Burbank Street. Library Director Kathy Pennell said the community has outgrown the facility that opened in 1991, before computers and the internet altered the library landscape. “Those advances greatly changed how libraries operate and they also have changed what our users expect from libraries,” Pennell said. Colorado River Heritage trail breaks ground

BULLHEAD CITY – Local residents and visitors alike will enjoy enhanced recreational opportunities when the Arizona section of the Colorado River Heritage Trail opens next fall in Bullhead City. A groundbreaking ceremony was held Friday, November 22 for initial construction of the Trail that will stretch some five miles south from Davis Dam to Davis Camp, operated by Mohave County, and further south to the Colorado River Bridge on SR 95. Speaking at Kingman Route 66 Rotary Club’s November 22 meeting was Mohave County Community Health Educator Specialist Senior Supervisor and Rotarian Susan Williams (shown with club president Karen Brown). Williams presented a power point presentation on tobacco use. Between 1965 and 2018 tobacco use in the U.S. dropped from 42% to 13.7% while in Mohave County it dropped from 29% in 2011 to 20% in 2018.
