Discarded meth-filled suitcase scattered over I-40

KINGMAN – Authorities say pounds of illegal drugs were scattered along Interstate 40 after a Mohave County Sheriff’s deputy tried to stop a black sedan two miles east of Kingman for an alleged lane violation Thursday, January 23. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said occupants tossed two suitcases from the passenger side of the eastbound vehicle. “One of the bags hit the ground and broke open, causing a cloud of white powder to be strewn across the interstate,” a news release stated. “Deputies at that time believed the subjects had thrown a large amount of drugs from the vehicle.” Mortensen said…

Two-story home destroyed in blaze

KINGMAN – An early Thursday fire destroyed an unoccupied, two story residence in downtown Kingman. Public Information Officer Oscar Lopez said Kingman Fire Department personnel responded at 1:11 a.m. to the incident in the 600 block of South Fourth Street. “First arriving fire personnel found heavy fire and smoke exiting the structure,” Lopez said. “Crews were able to conduct a primary all clear on the first floor, but were forced to evacuate as the structure was deemed unsafe.” Lopez said utility workers handled some electric lines that were inhibiting firefighting operations. LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City man who admitted involving a four-year-old male relative in a sex offense is going to the Arizona Department of Corrections. Lamorie pleads guilty to DV charge

LAKE HAVASU CITY – A Lake Havasu City teenager involved in a violent, alcohol-fueled altercation with her fiance pleaded guilty Tuesday to an aggravated assault by domestic violence charge. Prosecutor Jefferson Pyper said Alexis Lamorie was 18 years-old when she and her girlfriend went out drinking before an argument escalated at the 25-year-old victim’s residence at 2840 Appletree Drive. Lake Havasu City police said Lamorie threatened the woman with a knife during the ensuing altercation.
