Deputies, suspect injured in brawl

DOLAN SPRINGS – A Dolan Springs man suffered a puffy face when battered while battling Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies for more than a half hour early Tuesday. Spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said it was 2:00 a.m. when the sheriff’s office was asked to check into a suspicious vehicle report in the 13000 block of N. Joshua Drive in Dolan Springs. Mortensen said the reporting party advised that a semi-truck had parked near her neighbor’s home and that a man was walking near the property with a flashlight. Covid-19 and churches shaking hands?

By Dr. Glenn Mollette In the old days, Church pastors frowned on their church members staying home to watch television preachers Rex Humbard, Jerry Falwell or Robert Schuller. The sick and the very elderly were typically pardoned but that was as far as grace was extended.  The vast majority of churches across the land did not televise their services or broadcast church on the radio. Traditionally churches have preferred keeping their flock coming to the “house of God.”   Essentially most churches haven’t changed their philosophy. These activities are a response to Gov. Doug Ducey’s order to activate the Guard last week to help grocery stores and foodbanks with logistical capacity to meet the rising demand of food and other goods triggered by fears of the COVID-19 outbreak. “Our efforts are intended to reduce the concern that builds in the public when they see empty shelves,” said Maj….

Take precautions and practice Social Distancing to protect you and your family PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) has updated the community transmission level of COVID-19 in Arizona to “widespread.” Widespread transmission indicates that cases have been confirmed in twelve or more counties throughout the state. As of today, March 27, Arizona has confirmed 665 cases in 13 counties and 13 deaths attributed to COVID-19. “Given widespread transmission, all Arizonans should expect that COVID-19 is circulating in their community,” said Dr. Cara Christ, ADHS Director. “COVID-19 is a serious disease that is highly contagious and can be…

Panic!

Dear Editor, Chicken Little rides again! Or so it seems. No, the sky is not falling nor is it the end of days. We human beings have some startling weaknesses to go with our numerous strengths. Our reaction (as a group of supposedly thinking beings) to the covid-19 pandemic panic has been something less than admirable. Yes, the virus is real and yes people have died and are dying from it, but we lose more people every year from the influenza virus than we have lost from covid-19 so far. The general panic that is associated with this pandemic is…
