NAU’s Civic Service Institute to host statewide “Day of Sharing” virtual event May 14

Northern Arizona University (NAU)’s Civic Service Institute, which sponsors Senior Corps Programs throughout most of Arizona, is hosting a statewide virtual event to introduce adults, age 55+, to service opportunities in their local communities and neighborhoods. For many, the global pandemic has taken a toll on our ability to have consistent human interaction.  For older adults, social isolation has become more prominent.  The Senior Corps, hosted by NAU, hopes to combat that problem.  Through three very distinct volunteer service programs; Foster Grandparent, Senior Companion, and RSVP, adults age 55+ can begin to positively impact their local communities while we’re #AloneTogether. …

Suspicious fire under investigation at Arcadia Lodge

KINGMAN – Firefighters were called to a single-family residence fire at Arcadia Lodge in downtown Kingman on Monday, May 11. Kingman fire crews found heavy smoke and fire in the residence. According to a Kingman Fire Department spokesperson, no one was in the residence at the time of the fire. However, all residents of the lodge were evacuated, and one evacuee was treated at the scene with oxygen as he had left his in his unit upon evacuating. Man shot to death in Topock

TOPOCK – One man is dead and a woman, Jennifer Dawn Priole, 48, of Topock, has been jailed and charged with second degree murder. According to a Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) spokesperson, deputies responded to a residence in the 13000 block of Cove Parkway Sunday evening, May 10 for a domestic violence call from Priole, advising that she had shot the deceased man. BHC testing reveals only two positive COVID-19 cases

BULLHEAD CITY – Only two COVID-19 coronavirus infections were initially detected when 500 people were tested in Bullhead City Saturday, May 9. Mohave County Department of Public Health Director Denise Burley told the Board of Supervisors early Monday afternoon that the numbers were incomplete. The private contractor that conducted the testing at the Anderson Automotive Field House had not yet indicated the total number of negative and pending test results. Gail Gildemeister, of Lake Havasu City, graduated with a Certificate of Achievement in Professional Truck Driving.
