MOHAVE COUNTY – Seven people have accepted invitations to interview for the position of Mohave County Manager. Two of them are Mohave County employees who applied for the position, were not selected to interview with the screening committee, but have been invited by supervisors to interview before the Board. Those candidates are Development Services Director Tim Walsh and Yvonne Orr, Assistant to County Manager Mike Hendrix, who is retiring at the end of June. Census Bureau operations resume

In coordination with federal, state and local health officials, the U.S. Census Bureau will begin the process of restarting field operations in Mohave County. The Census Bureau will drop off 2020 Census invitation packets at approximately 90,000 homes County-wide. Also known as Update Leave, the process will give residents in Lake Havasu City another opportunity to be counted. The process is for households in areas where the majority of households do not receive mail at their home. BULLHEAD CITY – The Colorado River Union High School District governing board will hold a special meeting tonight, Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. to discuss and possibly vote on graduation plans for the Class of 2000 at the District’s three high schools.  Several options were discussed at Tuesday night’s regular board meeting.  Those included a traditional graduation at CRUHSD’s Anderson Auto Group Fieldhouse, a traditional graduation at the Fieldhouse with capacity limits, a virtual graduation and a drive-through graduation on each campus.  Preliminary results of an online SurveyMonkey poll about graduation preferences were also shared.  There will not be a call…

Drugs, cash, weapons seized in bust

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Authorities seized drugs, cash and weapons and arrested three men in Lake Havasu City last Friday. The activity marked the culmination of a two-month long investigation by police, the MAGNET narcotics task force and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. MCC giving students 100% of CARES Act funding

Mohave Community College will receive more than $1.9M as part of the federal government’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding.  Although the college is only required to distribute half of the money directly to students, the college will give all of it to MCC students. “We feel that distributing this money evenly among as many eligible MCC students as possible will have the most powerful positive impact on them and our communities during this crisis,” said MCC President Dr. Stacy Klippenstein.
