Surveying beginning in downtown Kingman in June

KINGMAN – Surveying beginning June 1, and lasting through mid-June for the Downtown Infrastructure Design Project (Formerly, Downtown Streetscape Project). The consultants hired by the city will be gathering data from store front to store front, street, curbs, etc.  on Beale from 1st Street to 6th St (half a block on the north and all the way to Andy Devine on the south at the intersecting streets). MEC provides River Fund $35,000 of extra help for members

BULLHEAD CITY – Mohave Electric Cooperative’s board of directors approved $35,000 in additional emergency energy assistance funding for MEC’s Members Helping Members program administered by River Fund, Inc. Tyler Carlson, CEO for MEC said, “At a time when members are needing it most, our board wanted to do more to help our members at this difficult time. The quickest thing we could do was add funding to MEC’s assistance program that Mike Conner and the River Fund already have in place. Long-term care facilities discussed at BOS special COVID-19 meeting

Bullhead City’s COVID-19 hotpot, the Joshua Springs Senior Living facility, was the focus of much of Thursday’s special Mohave County Board of Supervisors meeting in Kingman. Supervisor Hildy Angius said her constituents have raised lots of questions since it became known that some deaths and at least 18 coronavirus infections trace to the long-term care facility. NACFD issues burn ban

KINGMAN – The Mohave County Board of Supervisors has issued Stage 2 fire restrictions within the entire county. Based on this direction, the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District #1 is instituting a fire burn ban effective immediately. The ban includes the prohibition of the sale of consumer fireworks as addressed within the Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) 36-1606. The ban also rescinds any open burn permits issued by the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District #1 (NACFD#1) within the last 30 days. No burn permit applications will be accepted until further notice.

BLM announces recreational improvements at Burro Creek Campground

KINGMAN – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kingman Field Office will begin a four-month restroom renovation project at Burro Creek Campground on June 6, improving facilities that have been in operation since 1991. The project, which is expected to run through October, will update plumbing, including water, septic and vent lines; and will replace most interior fixtures, such as toilets, stall partitions, sinks, water fountains, access doors and vanity mirrors. External improvements will include replacing the roof and installing solar panels for downward shielded lights, which will enhance nighttime safety.
