Public safety members see retirement

MOHAVE COUNTY – Bullhead City last week celebrated the career of newly-retired police chief Brian Williamson. Manager Toby Cotter told Bullhead City council members that the police department is in good hands with longtime Capt. Dennis DeSantis now serving as Acting Chief while the city searches for its next top cop. “He’s going to help me as we transition through this process to name our new permanent Chief,” Cotter said. “In the meantime, his (DeSantis’) retirement date is slated for June the 4th, so we’ve got a little bit of time to work through the process.” Two Kingman residents ended…

KINGMAN – After starting the Kingman Area Literacy Program (KALP) seven years ago, director Chris Meisenheimer is retiring. “I started this program because teaching people to read is one of the best ways to lift them out of poverty,” said Meisenheimer. “Literacy’s value cannot be underestimated.” KALP tutors provide free tutoring to people of all ages, abilities and needs. City of Kingman looking to change zoning codes

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman Community Development Division has been working with Lisa Wise consulting for the past year to update the City of Kingman Zoning Code and expand the Downtown Historic Overlay District. The anticipated date of project completion is December 2020 or January 2021 and the city encourages public participation and input.
