COVID-19 update: 10 new cases, one death

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff has been notified of 10 new confirmed COVID-19 cases reported today. There was also one new death reported. The death comes from a previously reported case, an 80-89 person in the Kingman service area. Of the 10 new confirmed cases, 6 are in the Bullhead City service area. Two are in the Kingman service area. There are also 2 cases in the Lake Havasu City service area. Of the 6 Bullhead City area cases, 5 remain under investigation. Villareal accepts prison deal for drug charges

BULLHEAD CITY – A Bullhead City man will go to prison for nearly a decade through terms of a plea agreement resolving drug case arrests that occurred just a few months apart last year. A 9.25-year prison sentence is mandated in the deal entered Wednesday for Fred Villareal, 25. Villareal will be convicted of possession of narcotic drugs for sale for his April 24 arrest in Bullhead City. Deputy Mohave County attorney Jacob Cote said officers seized about one pound of heroin after serving a search warrant at the defendant’s Havasupai Drive apartment. Fifty-seven bison successfully relocated from the North Rim

GRAND CANYON – On September 4, in cooperation with the InterTribal Buffalo Council, Kaibab National Forest, and Arizona Game and Fish Department, National Park Service (NPS) staff successfully relocated 57 bison from the North Rim. All bison were transferred to the InterTribal Buffalo Council, who successfully transported them to the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation (Kans.), Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe (S. Dak.), Santee Sioux Tribe (Nebr.), and Modoc Nation (Okla.). Eleven additional bison were outfitted with tracking collars and released during the corralling process. Fall semester kicks off with virtual fanfare, not too late to sign up for 12 and 8 week classes

MOHAVE COUNTY –The Mohave Community College fall semester is off to an exciting start with several virtual events for the 3,570 students enrolled in remote and online courses, along with on campus labs.
