January 14, 1937 – May 29, 2021 George Thomas Swarts, Kingman, Arizona, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, May 29, 2021 with family members at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Bern and Carmelita Swarts, his sister Rosalie Christensen, and his brother Jim Swarts. He is survived by his ex-wife Maren Webb, his daughters Diane, Maria, and Rose (Dolly) Swarts, and grandchildren Jayde Swarts and RJ Herrera. Dear Editor, In 2020 over 64 million Americans were collecting Social Security. The National Institute for Retirement Security (NIRS)has reported that Social Security is the only income source for 40 percent of retirees over the age of 60.” (Forbes.com) The study also claimed that only 6.8 percent of retirees receive income from the three-legged stool of Social Security, a defined benefit pension and a defined contribution plan. County receives $1 million in grants

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County is among the beneficiaries as the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) announced more than $5.6 million in Accelerated Innovation Deployment (AID) Demonstration program grants to help seven states make the most of limited resources. The program allows states to bring projects to fruition in a more cost-effective way by using innovative practices. Alabama, Arizona, Michigan, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Dakota and Utah will receive money for their respective projects.
