Enough

When will we heal? If you are like me, I am fatigued to the point of exhaustion. Every day it seems we are accosted with another reason not to like one another. This group against that one. These types of people to avoid. This person to label, and on and on. And so, I ask again, “When will we heal?” Arguably, mankind has been at one another’s throats for eons. We seem predisposed against keeping the peace whether on a small or grand scale. In my lifetime alone, there have uprisings and times of discontent, but it is different now….

They are blinded by God

Dear Editor, When I entered the title “Are They Blinded by God?” the system would not accept that. Probably because of the question mark, but perhaps, God wants to show He is involved in what is happening in America today. Something that I am sure that He is! This morning, I heard the President say that we need to find out the root to why so many immigrants are leaving their country and streaming across our border. We also have heard the Vice President talk about finding out the root many times in the past. To them it is the Root, the root! What…

America’s crumbling bridges: can we save ourselves?

Dear Editor, The Forbes Avenue bridge over Fern Hollow Creek in Pittsburgh’s Frick Park collapsed last Friday morning, January 28, with several vehicles, including a Port Authority bus. (From Pittsburgh Action 4)  Ten people were injured. No one was killed when the bridge buckled at 6:39 a.m., officials said, though four people were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening. President Biden who was ironically visiting the area, warned that the country might not be so lucky next time. “We don’t need headlines saying that someone was killed when the next bridge collapses,” Biden said. (Washington Post)  “The most recent report using 2021…

Response to Mr. Bennett and Ms. Brown

Dear Editor, To the writer Paul Bennett who is concerned for America and Diana Brown who thinks Gosar is doing a bang-up job then suggests I did no homework regarding the subject (in the 19 January 2022 edition of The Standard). Ms. Brown admits some of her information came from the internet. We now know the internet is the source of much misinformation circulating today. Think about how Trump’s twitter feed has been deleted because of the numerous untruths he has spread without any facts to back up his claims. I wonder if you read the Mueller Report? If you…
