Substation equipment failure results in MEC outage

BULLHEAD CITY, AZ – On Saturday, March 23 at 11:07 a.m., MEC’s substation system protection equipment shut power off due to failure of a component. The outage affected approximately 2,405 MEC members in the area of Riviera Blvd., Oatman Road, and Riverview Drive in Bullhead City.

MEC crews responded, and rerouted substation circuits, restoring power to all members at 12:25 p.m. Testing has been completed and the failed equipment is scheduled to be replaced.

Outage restoration is important to Mohave Electric Cooperative. Please remember, there are many ways to report an outage. You can call our toll-free line at 1-844-632-2667, text “outage” to 55050 from a number linked to your MEC account or use our SmartHub® application on your mobile device to report the outage. You can also track outages on our website at: https://www.mohaveelectric.com/outage-center/
