Light the Night event sees 25 years

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Last week the Lake Havasu Fire Administration honored fallen firefighters with a five-day Light the Night tribute. The homage began on Wednesday, May 1 and ended on Sunday, May 5 at dusk at the Lake Havasu Fire Department Administration location, the London Bridge, and residents along with local businesses also participated in this nightly event.   The honoring was inspired by the National Fallen Firefighters tradition which was established 25 years ago. All locations were lit in red in remembrance of these firefighters that sacrificed their lives in the line of duty to save the lives of others. The celebration…

KSS-Taco Bell takes take first

Kingman’s traveling senior softball tournament team won the Ernie Jones Memorial over the weekend in Prescott. KSS-Taco Bell breezed undefeated through the bracket at 6-0. Coach Roy Heisner presented the Most Valuable Player honor to retired Arizona State Trooper Marty Harnisch. “Trooper” put on a hitting clinic, making only two outs in the six games. KSS-Taco Bell next travels to New Mexico for the Land of Enchantment Tournament in Albuquerque in June.

Gala to be held for Cornerstone Mission

Dear Editor, Cornerstone Mission, one of the largest non-profit organizations in Mohave County, needs our help!  The mission was invited to apply for a grant by the Arizona Department of Housing and Arizona Housing Coalition (AHC). They applied and were awarded $349,000, in which they used as proof to take out a bridge loan to meet the grant requirements. They were given a timeframe in which the funds needed to be disbursed and stipulations on how and when they needed to be spent. KINGMAN – A state trooper said his life is forever changed by getting run down by a vehicle driven by a serial fugitive. Trooper August Romanski recounted the traumatic encounter at Michael Malerba’s May 3 sentencing hearing. Malerba had allegedly fled three previous law enforcement pursuits that were terminated in the interest of public safety and he was a wanted man when authorities tracked him to a fast-food establishment in Kingman on April 21, 2023.
