Gala to be held for Cornerstone Mission

letter to the editor

Dear Editor,

Cornerstone Mission, one of the largest non-profit organizations in Mohave County, needs our help!

The mission was invited to apply for a grant by the Arizona Department of Housing and Arizona Housing Coalition (AHC). They applied and were awarded $349,000, in which they used as proof to take out a bridge loan to meet the grant requirements. They were given a timeframe in which the funds needed to be disbursed and stipulations on how and when they needed to be spent. If not spent in accordance with the requirements the funds would be lost. After three months of Cornerstone Mission using those funds to meet community needs, they were advised that due to discrepancies in spending from the year prior to their grant, AHC would be postponing payment of the grant. Thus leaving the mission $120,000 in debt and struggling to make ends meet until the grant is funded.

Now that the dire situation has been explained, we would like to ask Mohave County businesses to step in and help keep the Cornerstone Mission up and running and keep their services available.

On May 10, a Gala will be held at the Hualapai Mountain Resort in Kingman to raise funds for Cornerstone Mission, which holds a vital role in our community. We are reaching out to local businesses to ask if they are willing to contribute donated items towards a silent auction that will be held on the night of the Gala.

If you would like to donate funds or goods please reach out to me, Andie Carlson or Mohave Homes, Inc. either by phone or email.

The sponsorship letter as well as an event flier have been attached if you are looking for more information on what Cornerstone has done and plans to do with the funds.

If you are interested in attending the event, featuring a Dueling piano performance in 1920’s fashion you can purchase tickets and find more information on the link below. Plan to grab your flapper dress or fedora as 1920’s attire will truly set the tone for a night on the town and a great cause.
