KINGMAN – Friends of Mohave County Animal Shelter volunteers will have puppies and dogs from the shelter available for adoption at Rt 66 Rotary Club Festival of the Arts on Saturday, May 11  and Sunday, May12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Metcalfe Park, 315 W. KINGMAN – The KRMC Foundation will host its annual Mary Chan’s Route 66 Race for Hospice on Saturday, May 11. The first race will begin promptly at 7:15 a.m. Proceeds from this event will help fund the ongoing operating expenses of the Joan & Diana Hospice Home in Kingman. The hospice home provides end-of-life care to individuals and offers respite services to their families. Dozens protest Golden Valley urbanization

A plan by Angle Homes to build up to 3,000 homes on some 1,400 acres in Golden Valley drew protest from dozens of people outside the Mohave County Administration building before the Board of Supervisors meeting Monday. Many spoke against the project as the matter was the focus of public input and Board discussion for roughly three hours. The Board voted 3-2 against rezoning requested for the development.

Submissions for this year’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are down 33% over 2023 in Arizona, leaving millions of dollars of federal aid on the table. To get high school students and their families the help they need to complete the vital application,  Education Forward Arizona and other groups are offering in-person and online assistance and more. Among other tools, Education Forward Arizona’s Ask Benji chatbot provides free FAFSA support via text answers to nearly 1,000 common questions related to FAFSA, financial aid and college readiness. Pickering takes state gold in 100 meter

KINGMAN –Lee Williams High School (LWHS) senior Wyatt Pickering won the 800-meter race and a state championship at the Arizona Division III Track and Field meet in Phoenix last weekend. The 18-year-old used a powerful kick finish to pull past the field for gold in 1:54.73. “These past few weeks I’ve been dialing in on my last 150 meters. I left it all out there and it definitely showed,” Pickering told Runner Space.
