BLM lifts fire restrictions in central and western Arizona

Effective Friday, August 25 at 8 a.m., the Bureau of Land Management will lift all seasonal fire restrictions for public lands administered by the Phoenix and Colorado River Districts, including the Kingman, Lake Havasu, and Yuma field offices as well as the Hasssayampa, and Lower Sonoran field offices. Due to increased precipitation across the area, additional rain in the weather forecast, and a rise in fuel moisture, it has been determined that the likelihood of wildfire has lessened to the degree that the restrictions can be rescinded.  Before going hiking or camping, ensure you are aware of fire regulations, restrictions, or area…

Bullhead schools mark opening of on-site employee childcare center

BULLHEAD CITY – Several dozen community leaders helped the Bullhead City School District (BCSD) ceremonially launch a childcare program for BCSD employees.  Located on the Coyote Canyon School campus, the center was approved earlier this year by the BCSD governing board as a way to recruit and retain employees who are concerned about safe and affordable childcare. Led by the Bullhead Area and Laughlin Chambers of Commerce, members of BCSD’s school board, along with Mayor Steve D’Amico and members of the Bullhead City Council, center staff and students cut ribbons for what some commented could be a model elsewhere. MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave Community College campus in Kingman has been working toward rebuilding and refreshing the pond on campus. University enrollment downturn since 2020

Over 1.6 million fewer students are enrolled in higher education in the U.S. compared to before the pandemic. Decreases in university enrollments have likewise occurred around the world. Japan has shut down 11 and merged 29 universities from 2000 to 2020. The reason is low birth rate where “the number of 18-year-olds here has dropped by nearly half in just three decades, from more than two million in 1990 to 1.1 million now.
