KINGMAN – Even in the midst of crisis, Kingman’s great community has stepped up to reach others in need. The Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3744 has served the community since mid-March, giving out more than 10,000 sandwiches and delivering more than 7,000 meals to people in need during this pandemic.

The Eagles have passionate members that are hard at work improving their communities and making life better for all. They stand for “People Helping People” and this motto stands true during this time where families are in such desperate need.

“Gloria Kennedy, which is our kitchen manager, started up in March and the first day she started it, it was only three lunches given out. By the end of April, we had already given out over 7,000 lunches. We have two separate routes that we take out. There are just a lot of people who are members that are volunteering. We have a route that goes downtown on Topeka, through that area. It just started out to help the neighborhood out here and the locals and it ended up huge. Money has come from some donations from different people, Pepsi, individuals and of course from the bingo hall and the Aeries. We have donated just personal donations from the club itself about $3,000. Pepsi and the Family Dollar right next to the club have been fantastic about donating things. Since the schools have been closed down, the bread man has been bringing the bread to u,.” says Rhonda Nelson.

The club averages about 200 sandwiches per day. Lunch pick up starts at 10 a.m. and run until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Eagles Lodge, 4536 N Patsy Dr. Sack lunches are served with five to six different sandwiches, chips, fruit, bottled water, limited candy, sodas and a table set up if parents want to take bread, celery, tomatoes, and or anything people donate. The organization also donates clothing, both new and used to those in need.

For more information on routes, lunch pickup, or donating, please contact Rhonda Nelson at 928-303-6610.
