Diamondback Lateral Pipeline right-of-way approved

MOHAVE VALLEY – The Bureau of Land Management has approved a right-of-way amendment for the Diamondback Lateral Pipeline project in Mohave Valley under emergency permitting procedures. With this approval, El Paso Natural Gas Company, LLC., may construct a high-pressure natural gas pipeline connecting existing infrastructure to help bring natural gas to a metering station on private land.

The pipeline, which will extend about 0.7 miles across BLM-managed public land, includes approximately four acres of permanent right-of-way and another four acres for temporary workspace. The ten-inch lateral pipeline is expected to deliver up to 42 million cubic feet of natural gas per day from two existing pipelines to a proposed Arizona Electric Power Cooperative natural gas power plant on private lands near Mohave Valley.

The pipeline will operate primarily below ground with limited surface infrastructure. Construction activities will be temporary, and disturbed areas will be restored as near as practicable to pre-construction conditions. Planned construction includes trenching, pipe placement, and backfilling generally within or adjacent to existing infrastructure corridors.

Short-term access restrictions may occur to ensure public and worker safety. No long-term closures are anticipated.
