LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – No further jail time was ordered during a Sept. 29 sentencing for a Lake Havasu City woman charged in a revenge pornography criminal case. Mikaela Waninger, 43, previously pleaded guilty to unlawful distribution of images.
Waninger admitted posting a nude image of another woman on social media, along with a “Do not trust this person” caption. Waninger admitted downloading the images from her ex-boyfriend’s electronic device, and that she was mad at him when she posted the material on June 30.
Judge Ryan Esplin told the defendant he did not know if jealousy, anger or other factors motivated her to violate the victim’s right to privacy.
“It was a bad decision. It was a poor choice,” Esplin said. “Nobody deserves this.”
The court placed Waninger on probation for two years and directed her to perform 40 hours of community work service.
