MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave College’s Advanced Manufacturing Training Center (AMTC) has been named Higher Education and Workforce Development Project of the Year at the 2026 Real Estate Development (RED) Awards, hosted by AZ Big Media and AZRE Magazine.
The award was announced March 19, 2026, during the 20th annual RED Awards celebration at the Embassy Suites Scottsdale. AZ Big Media reported that nearly 200 projects were under consideration across multiple categories.
According to AZ Big Media, the AMTC project team included Mohave College (owner), CORE Construction (general contractor), and DFDG Architects (architect).
“The AMTC represents the kind of forward-looking investment that changes what is possible for students and employers in our region,” said Mohave College Dean of Career & Technical Education Jason Gee. “This recognition highlights the value of building workforce training opportunities in rural Arizona and connecting students to high-demand careers.”
A workforce training hub for northwestern Arizona
Located at the Kingman Airport Industrial Park, the AMTC is a modern training facility designed to help expand access to advanced manufacturing education and strengthen Arizona’s skilled workforce pipeline.
The 36,000-square-foot facility offers hands-on training in high-demand skilled trades, including welding, HVAC, industrial maintenance, robotics, computer-aided design (CAD), and manufacturing fundamentals, supported by specialized learning spaces such as design labs and SIM/VR labs.
AZ Big Media’s RED Awards finalist profile for the AMTC notes the project was funded through the Future48 Workforce Accelerator, an economic development initiative of the State of Arizona and the Arizona Commerce Authority, and includes features such as a SIM/VR lab and a business incubator and maker space. Governor Katie Hobbs attended the AMTC grand opening and ribbon cutting, highlighting the center’s important role in preparing Arizonans for in-demand careers.
Since it opened in August 2025, nearly 200 students have taken courses at the center. More than 2,000 youth and adults have participated in meetings, trainings, job fairs and other events at the AMTC.
