Anzalone gets probation for sexual activity with minor

KINGMAN – A Bullhead City man who had extensive sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl was placed on probation for three years during a March 20 sentencing hearing in Kingman. Judge Billy Sipe said the case against Alex Anzalone, 20, is framed as two teenagers having consensual sex rather than a predatory perpetrator scenario.

Anzalone was 19 when the sexual activity occurred last April. He pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual conduct with a minor while 15 counts for the same offense were dismissed in a plea agreement.

Defense attorney Ross Carponelli told the court that Anzalone suffers anxiety and depression and was a sexual abuse victim as a child.

“I have never intentionally went out of my way to harm anyone sexually,” Anzalone said.

Judge Sipe expressed frustration that so many children are sexually abused.

“I wish I could put a big banner on the front page of the newspaper everyday saying ‘leave the children alone,”’ Sipe said.

Sipe ordered Anzalone to serve 60 days in the county jail.
