Fresno man gets five years for interstate meth transport bust in Mohave County

KINGMAN — A 5-year prison term has been ordered for a Fresno, California man arrested for transporting methamphetamine through Mohave County. Mario Altamirano, 23, was sentenced by Mohave County Superior Court Judge Megan McCoy during a Feb. 5 hearing in Kingman.

Altamirano was convicted of transportation of dangerous drugs for sale through a plea agreement.

A K9 alerted on the vehicle Altamirano was driving following a traffic stop that was initiated on Interstate 40 was completed within the Kingman City limits on Nov. 6, 2025. A search of the vehicle netted seizure of 40, 1-lb packages of methamphetamine from two boxes.

Altamirano claimed responsibility for the drugs and told officers that his passenger, Daisy Morales, 24, Wichita, Kansas was uninvolved. Morales pleaded guilty to a charge reduced to attempted transportation of dangerous drugs.

Morales was placed on probation and ordered to serve 180 days in jail and perform 120 hours of community work service.
