It was a magical evening at the Moose Lodge

KINGMAN — Vinny Marini, the Godfather of Magic (left), may be 87, but his hands still work just fine for card tricks and a whole lot more.  Marini, from California, was recently visiting his daughter and son-in-law.

Here he’s showing Pam Frazier and Ed Edminson his necklace tricks at the Moose Lodge in Kingman.  For another trick, Mr. Marini borrowed $100 bill from an audience member, had him put his initials on it, the bill was folded, then he blew up a black balloon selected by an audience member who had volunteered to help.

After several more minutes of card tricks, Mr. Marini had the volunteer break the balloon. The gentleman’s $100 bill, with his initials, was inside the balloon yet, no one knew how it got there. Pretty impressive; make that “Magical.”  Mr. Marini said his grandfather actually knew the late, great escape artist of magic, Harry Houdini. Connie “Ceejay” Jones
