April Cox

April (Mims) Cox, born April 1, 1946, in Tucson, Arizona, passed from this life and into heaven on December 10, 2025.

April grew up in Tucson, Arizona and met the love of her life, Jim Cox in July of 1964, at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. They were married for 61 years, and after moving to San Antonio, TX, raised 3 children-Jimmy, Chris (Becky) and Stephanie (Randy) who love her deeply.

The delight of her heart is her grandchildren – Stephen (April), Rebecca (Paul), Megan (Kasey), Courtney (Ed) and Ashley (Kenny), and her 8 great-grands – Adylan, Charity, Amelia, Sophie, Promise, Wesley, Benn and Leon. Each one added joy to her life in a way only grandkids can. April is preceded in death by her oldest son Jimmy, whom she is joyfully reunited with now in heaven.

April loved and served her Lord and Savior with all of her heart and was a counselor and spiritual mentor to many women throughout her life. She served on the board of Women’s Aglow in both San Antonio, TX and Kingman, AZ. She was the Area Prayer Coordinator for Bridgebuilders International and Ladies pastor at Abundant Life Church. April worked at the KAAP Domestic Violence Shelter in Kingman for ten years, where she helped lead women and their children to safety and self-reliance. April was well known for her “list” of friends and family whom she faithfully prayed for every single day.

April was the definition of compassion, grace, love and beauty. She was adored by her family and loved by all who had the blessing of knowing her. She never judged a person by their outward appearance but saw the gold in everyone and desired to see them live the life only God could give them. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and always close to our hearts until we are reunited with her once again.

There will be a celebration of April’s life on January 17th at 2 PM at Abundant Life Church, 1212 Stockton Hill Rd. Kingman, Arizona.

Sutton Memorial Funeral Home is handled the arrangements.
