Alzheimers and dementia nonprofit will host two holiday events in Dec

LAKE HAVASU CITY — The Dementia Connection of the Havasu Community Health Foundation is all geared up to include individuals suffering with Alzheimer’s and Dementia with upcoming holiday celebrations.

Consisting of dedicated volunteers, the Dementia Connection nonprofit continues to raise awareness with providing education on the contributing factors of the illness.

The charitable organization also has ongoing virtual dementia tours, free memory screenings by request, and gives resources and outreach opportunities along through monthly support group meetings.

This December, the team will host two Christmas activities open to anyone in the community interested in attending.

The Tree of Reflection Light Ceremony will be a memoriam ceremony for those who have passed from the disease.

Ornaments to represent their lives can be purchased for $12 throughout the month of December at the Havasu Community Health Foundation at 2126 McCulloch Blvd N., or at the event.  Three families will be given stars from the Dementia Connection who are currently experiencing a loved one suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s, or have deceased family members from the disease. Proceeds of the event will go to benefit the Dementia Connection of Havasu.

Later in the month, the team will host a Holiday Gift Extravaganza. With gifts donated by Johnny’s Estate and Auction House, Santa Clause will be making an appearance as well to hand out gifts to the attendees with dementia and Alzheimer’s.

There will also be a bingo memory game and the making of arts and crafts. Hot beverages and Christmas cookies will be provided at both events and admission is free to the public.
