KINGMAN — A mistrial has been declared in the criminal case in which a Kingman man is charged in the shooting of his uncle. A Mohave County Superior Court jury deliberated for about three hours on Wednesday, September 24 before informing the Court that its members could not reach unanimous verdicts in the trial of Zachary Sowers, 26.
Sowers is charged with attempted second degree murder and attempted aggravated assault for the shooting last December. The 62-year-old uncle was shot in his home after he asked Sowers to vacate the residence in the 2800 block of East Hearne Avenue.
Judge Derek Carlisle scheduled an October 3 status hearing as attorneys contemplate whether the case will be tried again, resolved by plea agreement or dismissed.
