LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG), hosted a Reach Out and Play event last week with the seniors of our community. WACOG is a charitable organization dedicated to empowering communities through their various programs. Reach Out and Play day took place on Wednesday. Sept. 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church’s Memory Cafe.
WACOG’s programs provide assistance for children, healthcare, housing support, and senior outreach. Partnered up with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), their Reach Out and Play day was created to enhance socialization for people of all ages through timeless board game playing.
AARP sponsors Ageless Innovation, the company that designs products for the elderly. Next week’s games will feature nostalgic board games like Trivial Pursuit Generations, Scrabble Classic, and the Game of Life.
These activities were created as a way to improve the emotional and mental health not just for seniors, but for the community.
